For employees

For employees
If your employer has offered you a settlement agreement, the law says you must get independent advice on it before it can be binding. We give that advice, explain what you are agreeing to, and help you decide whether the terms are fair.

Legal information
GAIT Sports Ltd, trading as ESAS (Company No. 17056724, 3rd Floor, 86–90 Paul Street, London EC2A 4NE), is the data controller for personal information we collect. Contact: info@esas-uk.com.
What we collect: your name and contact details, details of your employment and the matter you need help with, and documents you send us. This can include health or other sensitive information where it is relevant to your case.
Why we use it, and our legal basis:
Who we share it with: only where needed, for example your employer or their solicitor when we act for you, our professional indemnity insurer, an independent solicitor if you agree to a referral, and IT providers who store our email and files. Some of these providers, including our website host, are based in the United States. Where data is transferred outside the UK, we rely on the safeguards UK data protection law requires, such as the UK–US data bridge or the provider's data processing terms. We do not sell your data.
How long we keep it: client files for six years after a matter closes, then securely deleted. Enquiries that do not proceed are deleted within 12 months.
Your rights: you can ask for a copy of your data, or ask us to correct, delete or restrict it, or object to how we use it. Where we rely on your consent, for example for our newsletter, you can withdraw it at any time. Email us to do this. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Automated decisions: we do not make decisions about you by automated means. AI-assisted tools are used only for administration and drafting, and all advice is given by a person.
Information on this website is general guidance, not advice on your situation. We do not act for you until we have confirmed our engagement in writing. Prices shown are indicative and confirmed in writing before any work starts.
What we do and don't do: ESAS is not a firm of solicitors and is not regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. We do not carry out reserved legal activities under the Legal Services Act 2007, such as conducting litigation or exercising rights of audience in the civil courts. Our work covers employment relations advice, workplace representation, mediation, training, and settlement agreement advice as an advice centre under section 203(3A)(c) of the Employment Rights Act 1996.
Referrals: where your matter needs a solicitor, we can refer you to an independent firm regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. That firm will act for you under its own terms. Before you agree to a referral, we will tell you whether we have any arrangement with the firm, including any payment.
Membership gives access to defined advice and resources. It is not insurance and does not guarantee representation, funding or any outcome.
If you are unhappy with our service, email info@esas-uk.com with "Complaint" in the subject line. We will acknowledge your complaint within 5 working days and give you a full written response within 20 working days. If you remain unhappy, we will explain any further options available to you.
We want this website to be usable by everyone. It is designed to work with keyboards, screen readers and on mobile phones. If you have difficulty using it, or need information in another format, email us and we will help.
